Liz Taylor
Liz Taylor is principal of Aging Deliberately, a business that teaches people how to age “on purpose” rather than
accidentally.
Liz started her career as a consumer fraud investigator with the Federal Trade Commission. In 1976, then-Commissioner Elizabeth Dole appointed her director of a nationwide investigation of the nursing home industry – and she’s worked in the aging field ever since.
Twenty-five years ago she became one of the first geriatric care managers in the Pacific Northwest, working one-on-one with thousands of older adults and their families to make good housing and care choices.
Blending these perspectives – aging and consumer protection – Liz believes that education is key to making life better as we get older. Through her consulting, workshops and writings – including a weekly column on aging in The Seattle Times for fourteen years and a new bi-weekly e-newsletter via her website, Aging Deliberately– she shows families and older people how to protect their interests in late life.
Honors:
- Liz was invited as one of 15 journalists in the nation to attend a week-long conference on aging in New York City in 2002, sponsored by the International Longevity Center – USA and funded by The New York Times Foundation.
- In 2005, she was a Delegate to the White House Conference on Aging in Washington, DC.
- In 2007, she received the Aging Awareness Media Award by the American Geriatrics Society for outstanding reporting on health care for older adults and the Excellence in Media Award by the Washington Association of Housing & Services for the Aging.
We’re pleased Liz will be working with AllSeniorHomes.com to develop consumer-friendly materials to help our visitors make wise decisions in the older adult marketplace.
